At the tender age of 5, Clergé made her debut singing in the children’s choir at her parents’ home church. Her undeniable talent was felt throughout the whole congregation at the age of 9, when she began singing solos.
Growing up, music became her main outlet of expression. As a child, Julie recollects sitting by the window all day and being lost in music. She would stay up writing poems, which eventually turned into songs. Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Whitney
Houston, Mariah Carey, Elton John, Melissa Etheridge, and Aerosmith were some of her favorite artists growing up. Her taste may seem eclectic but she loves and gravitates towards music that spoke to her heart.
Following her passion in high school, Clergé joined Malden High School Mixed Chorus and led the Gospel Choir. She continued singing with L.I.F.E, a traveling music ministry lead by Minister Michael Payne. In L.I.F.E, Julie traveled throughout the New England Area lifting spirits and touching hearts with her captivating voice.
Clergé’s passion for music continues to burn. She began working with local producers to create new music. She is currently working on her EP. It is set to release in early 2014.
Clergé will be attending Berklee College in the Spring of 2014 where she will continue to pursue her passion and grow in her craft.
