Over this past Labor Day weekend, I was blessed with the opportunity to attend one of the largest balls that ATL has to offer. For those unaware, The Ball is an event held in the LGBT community and is one of the most anticipated events of the year.
This particular ball, “Memoirs of an Icon” was hosted by Shamari-Rene Cherry and Barbie Idol who are leading members of the Chanel International House. With hundreds of people in attendance, the runway was ready to work. So many people are in the dark about Ball Culture, so I felt it necessary to highlight this extravaganza. In the LGBT community, different groups are often represented by different houses, created by the leaders in the community.
These houses act as families. During the ball, houses are represented by their best performers in various categories and they compete for the top spot. Special Thanks to all involved, especially Shamari-Rene Cherry and Barbie Idol for hosting such a spectacular event. I can’t wait until next time!
